Madsen Family | Gilbert Family Photographer

My SIL called me up last Sunday and asked if I could hurry and come over and take some impromptu family pictures as she felt that it would be the last time all her children would be in the same place for awhile. Of course I said yes and grabbed my camera and headed over. When I got there they announced that my nephew who just returned home from a mission to Calgary two weeks ago, was moving back to Canada in just a few days. He’s crazy, but I love him anyway.

For some reason, each time I photograph my brothers family (he’s the oldest – I have six!) they resist all my efforts to pose them. I don’t know if this pose (all lined up) is ingrained in us from our elementary school portrait days or what, but without fail, I’ll show them where I’m going to have them group and they’ll flood to the spot and line up. I will switch it up next time, even if I have to manually maneuver and/or use force. They’re my family, I can use force, right? Bribes maybe?

Regardless, I love them. And had such a great time taking pictures of just the kids and seeing some of their childhood personalities make an appearance.
